Richard Gere is one of the most famous and successful actors of all time. He has been acting for more than 60 years and has appeared in some of Hollywood’s most famous films, such as An Officer and a Gentleman, Pretty Woman, and Chicago.
Richard Gere recently became a father again at the age of 70 with his third wife, Alejandra Silva. His life story is a true inspiration both on and off screen.
Richard Gere was born Richard Tiffany Gere on 31 August 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father, Homer George Gere, worked in insurance, and his mother, Doris Ann Tiffany, was a stay-at-home mum. He was the oldest boy and second child in the family and was loved by all.
He was born in Philadelphia but moved to Syracuse, New York, with his family when he was young. He attended North Syracuse Central High School, where his teachers and friends quickly realized he had a special talent.
After finishing high school, he went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was such a talented gymnast that he received a scholarship to attend.
After dropping out of college, he went to the Seattle Repertory Theatre, where he got his first job.
In 1969, he moved to the Provincetown Playhouse on Cape Cod and starred in productions such as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.
In 1973, Gere made his first big appearance on stage in the original production of Grease in London’s West End.
His first role was in 1974’s The Lords of Flatbush, but he left the cast after an argument with co-star Sylvester Stallone.
But this didn’t stop him. In 1977, he appeared in Looking for Mr. Goodbar and starred in Terrence Malick’s critically acclaimed Days of Heaven.
During this time, he became a huge star, and everyone wanted to know about him. He was also known for being attractive to women and having many girlfriends. During this time, he was romantically linked with famous women such as Susan Sarandon, Tuesday Weld, Carole Mallory, Dawn Steel, Loree Rodkin, Diane von Furstenberg, Barbara Carrera, and Barbra Streisand.
He was also linked to famous faces such as Laura Bailey, Tina Chow, Dalila Di Lazzaro, and Padma Lakshmi.
For years, people have wondered about Richard Gere’s love life. They even started calling him “Mr. Grey” because of his appearance. But he finally confirmed that he was dating supermodel Cindy Crawford.
In 1991, the famous couple got married. They took a last-minute private jet to Vegas and married at the famous Church of the West chapel.
But in 1995, fans were devastated when the couple announced that they were divorcing, saying that they were too different in age.
But around this time, Gere found himself lucky in love once again. He ignored the tabloid rumors about his love life and focused on finding a meaningful relationship.
This came with another model and actress, the famous Bond girl Carey Lowell. The two fell in love and began dating around 1999 before welcoming a son, Homer James Jigme Gere, in February 2000.
Things were about to get even better, though, because, in 2002, he married his long-term love, Carey Lowell.
Before they married, Gere and Lowell lived together in one of the most impressive and luxurious celebrity homes.
In April 2018, he married Spanish activist Alejandra Silva, who was 35 then. This was the Hollywood legend’s third marriage.
In August 2018, Gere announced some pleased and unexpected news.
She posted a photo on her Instagram page of herself and her husband visiting the Dalai Lama and showing off her baby bump!
