In 2020, Michelle and the former President of the United States, Barack Obama, purchased a property on the oceanfront for $11.75 million. The pair have since resided in the home, taking advantage of its proximity to the renowned Massachusetts coastline.

The 6,892-square-foot residence is on approximately 30 acres of private land strategically positioned between Slough Cove and Turkeyland Cove. Notable politicians and celebrities frequent these locations, placing the Obamas in a distinguished company.

The residence’s architectural design was conceived by Taylor Lombardo Architects, based in San Francisco. John Early, a prominent contractor based on the island, undertook its construction in 2001.

The residence boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and multiple stone fireplaces. It also features a garage with capacity for two vehicles, a separate barn, and a substantial swimming pool. The property also encompasses a boat house, a pond, and a private beachfront.

The interior has been designed with a primary focus on entertainment. The residence features a substantial kitchen and a dining area that offers breathtaking bay vistas. A considerable family room is also included, where the Obamas can relax.

Externally, a raised sundeck offers further space for relaxation, with panoramic vistas of the bay.

The Dukes County Registry of Deeds documents that the property was acquired for $11.75 million.
