The sequel to an $85 million movie makes room for Sam Elliott to return to an action franchise. Sam Elliott has been in over 100 movies in his acting career. But long before he was famous, he started in Westerns. Elliott got his first significant role in 1976’s Lifeguard.

Sam Elliott is known for playing many roles in different movies. Many remember him from an ’80s action movie. This action movie was recently remade and could have brought back Sam Elliott. The film missed out on this chance, but it can make up for it by featuring Sam Elliott in its sequel.

The anticipation for Sam Elliott’s appearance in the 2024 remake of Road House was palpable. While the original character, Wade, was no longer available for Elliott to play, fans held out hope for a cameo in a different role, as a nod to the original. With the confirmation of Road House 2, this anticipation can finally be realized as the sequel is set to feature Sam Elliott in a new character.

In his roles in the original RoadHouse and recent movies and shows like 1883 and A Star is Born, Sam Elliott consistently exudes a calm and charming demeanor. His towering height and husky voice add to his on-screen presence, making him appear and sound commanding.

It’s not clear if he’ll appear in the new Road House movie, but he’ll likely be involved in the story.

Sam Elliott has mostly appeared on TV shows like MacGruber, 1883, and The Ranch. He has only been a voice actor in movies. His upcoming roles in films like The Gettysburg Address and Grendel will only feature him as the voice. The Road House remake was a big success for Amazon, so the sequel is expected to be even bigger. If Sam Elliott joins, it will be his biggest movie role, possibly marking his big-screen comeback.

Sam Elliott’s last non-voice role was in A Star Is Born, which came out in 2018. It’s been over half a decade since he played a significant role in a full-length film. Road House 2 could be his chance to shine again. He’s already known for playing Wade Garrett in the original movie. His involvement with the remake could also bring more eyes to the Amazon sequel, benefiting both the actor and the franchise.

Sam Elliott’s role in the Road House remake’s sequel could harm the film if his appearance is not handled carefully. The remake’s subtle references to the original may have contributed to its success, but the film is more than a simple nostalgia fest. The Road House remake also tells a modern story with the same old storylines. For example, it adds depth to Dalton’s backstory by portraying him as a formal UFC fighter.

The Road House remake is a compelling reimagining of the 1989 film. The remake could ruin the original if Sam Elliott is too important in the film or his character is too similar to Wade Garrett. Sam Elliott’s portrayal of Wade Garrett is one of the best things about the original.

If Road House 2 undermines what made Wade Garrett special, it will be seen as a bad film. If the actor returns for the sequel, his involvement should be handled carefully. Time will tell if this happens. Road House 2 could improve the franchise if it brings Sam Elliott back with a new take while still honoring the original.
