Angie Dickinson is an American actress known for Rio Bravo, Police Woman, and other roles. Her charming style charmed the audience. 

Angie Dickinson was born Angeline Brown on 30 September 1931 to Fredericka and Leo Henry Brown. 

Her father was a movie projectionist, so Angie was introduced to movies from a young age and fell in love with them. 

While studying business at Glendale Community College, Angie fell in love with football star Gene Dickinson. The couple started dating and married in 1952.

Angie Dickinson was born after she married. The couple separated in 1960. 

Angie’s entry into showbiz was accidental. She participated in a local Miss America pageant and came second in the final. 

The show gave her exposure. She was told to become an actress. 

She made her TV debut in 1954. Her first TV role led to others in Tombstone Territory, Broken Arrow, Grey Ghost; It’s A Great Life, and more.

Angie also appeared in a few movies, including Lucky Me, The Return of Jack Slade, China Gate, and more.

In March 1966, Esquire magazine featured Dickinson. For the photoshoot, Dickinson wore a powder blue cardigan and white kitten heels. The cover became one of the magazine’s most iconic.

In 1974, Dickinson played Suzanne Pepper Anderson in an episode of Police Story. Because her appearance was so popular, NBC made a spin-off called Police Woman.

In 1965, Dickinson married again. She married composer Burt Bacharach. But their marriage wasn’t ideal. 

They divorced in 1981. They had a daughter, Lea Nikki. Lea died in 2007.

Angie Dickinson was rumored to have had an affair with US President John F. Kennedy. 

Kennedy and Dickinson never confirmed or denied the rumors.

After Police Woman, Angie returned to the big screen in 1980 with Dressed to Kill, where she played Kate Miller. 

Angie Dickinson is the only female actor in Ocean’s 11 twice. Angie played Beatrice Ocean in the original Ocean’s 11. 

Angie’s daughter, Lea, killed herself in 2007. Lea was born early. She had many serious health problems, including Asperger’s.

Lea was admitted to a psychiatric center in her later years. Burt and Angie made the decision together. Dickinson gave up many roles to be with her.

In 2019, her vintage pictures were shown at the Memphis Film Festival. Dickinson is in her late 80s and has mostly retired, but still makes rare appearances.

In an interview with Culture Map Austin, the actress spoke about ageism in Hollywood.

She said that roles are hard to come by at her age, and she’d rather sleep than wake up at five to do a terrible part.

In the same interview, Angie Dickinson talked about her favorite actors. She said some of their performances blew her away. Angie listed Jessica Biel, Emma Stone, Craig Ferguson, and Eloise Mumford as her favorite new actors.
