A dachshund named Beans had the strangest look imaginable. As soon as Dad sat down on the sofa, she instantly froze and literally glared at him with her eyes, as if she was performing an important task. It was not just a look – a real hypnotic duel like a taxi. Mom, Megan, laughed every time, because it was obvious: Beans chose dad, Stephen, as her main person. No matter what mom did, the dog’s attention invariably returned to him.

If Stephen moved, Beans immediately followed him. He got up, and she hurried after him on her short legs. When he left the house, she would sit at the door, patiently waiting for his return.
