She was once called the world’s hairiest girl, which made her classmates tease and even scare her.
On 5 August 1999, Supatra’s family experienced a life-changing event. Like most parents welcoming a new baby, Sompon and Samrerng were really happy and excited.
But they were also surprised, worried, and didn’t believe it when the doctors told them that their new baby daughter had a lot of hair. Supatra’s body was almost completely covered in thick hair.
Doctors later discovered that Natty had a rare skin condition called Ambras syndrome.
Ambras syndrome is a rare condition in which extra hair grows all over the body, but not on the palms, soles, or inside the mouth.
From a young age, Natty experienced the warmth of a loving family. But not everyone understood her condition, and she had to deal with unkindness from strangers and her peers as she grew up.
Her teachers said she was a lively girl who loved singing, dancing, and acting. Her parents treated her the same, so she never felt different or less important.
Natty has accepted her condition, knowing there is no cure. She didn’t shave her pubic hair, which she had always had, and only started shaving her face when she was a teenager. As she grew up, her self-esteem and self-image became increasingly important to her, and she also found love.
She said, “We started as friends, and then we became a couple.” She was happy when she talked to him, and it felt right for them to be together, even though she hadn’t expected to feel this way. “It was a kind of love that I didn’t expect to happen.”
Later, Natty met her boyfriend and proudly called him “the love of my life.”
Natty shared photos with her partner that showed her face without any hair, which made people think she had stopped using drugs. However, her father said that she chose to shave to show off her new look. Now, you can see her eyes, face, mouth, lips, and cheeks, with only her forehead covered by hair from her head.
Now that he has found love and happiness, Natty wants to make a meaningful impact on society and live his life to the full. She believes that every person is beautiful in their own way, and she aims to encourage others to be proud of who they are and feel confident.
