After a heavy rainfall, Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, resident James Callender encountered an unusual phenomenon: a giant water bubble formed under his lawn. This happens when water accumulates between the turf and a special film designed to suppress weed growth. Due to the lack of drainage, the liquid accumulates, creating a “water cushion” effect.

James decided not just to watch, but to film what was happening on video, which he then posted on YouTube. In the video, he first carefully pokes the bubble with a sharp gardening tool, then climbs on it, trying to push the water out with his weight. The lawn beneath him sways, resembling a water mattress.

At some point, he manages to break through the shell, and the water noisily bursts out. “Kids, don’t try this at home,” he warns playfully. A female voiceover humorously replies, “There’s only one kid who can do this.” She concludes, “Now that’s what I call a good old mud puddle,” as the water gradually spreads across the property.
