After President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 election race on Sunday, he threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris, who will replace him.
If she wins the nomination, she could be living in the White House before we know it.
But in the meantime, where is she now?
As Harris steps into the spotlight as the Democratic Party’s leading presidential candidate who might soon go toe-to-toe against Donald Trump, let’s look at the many places she’s called home along the way.
Kamala Harris’s real estate history
Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, live rent-free on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory at 1 Observatory Circle, about three miles from the White House.
Walter Mondale was the first vice president to live in the residence, and Harris was the ninth.
Biden loved spending time in the bright, airy solarium when he lived there as vice president.
Before she moved in, Harris brought in decorator Sheila Bridges to give the place a makeover.
Bridges added bright pink wallpaper to the home’s library walls, which was featured on fashion designer Prabal Gurung’s Instagram feed.
Blair House in Washington, DC
While the renovations were being done on the U.S. Naval Observatory home, Harris and Emhoff lived in Blair House, across the street from the White House.
It’s the president’s official guest house at 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The house has 14 bedrooms, 35 bathrooms, three formal dining rooms, a gym, and a beauty salon.

Harris bought her 1,069-square-foot loft in San Francisco in 2004, when she made history as the state’s first Black district attorney.
According to the Wall Street Journal, she sold it in February 2021 for a 63% profit.
The one-bedroom, 1.5-bath property is located in the South of Market neighborhood.
The loft is on the top floor of the building and has floor-to-ceiling windows, a chef’s kitchen, a fireplace, and a walk-in closet. It also seems to have a private patio, which is pretty rare in the city.

According to the Journal, they sold it in September 2021 for a 4.2% profit.
The two-bedroom, two-bath condo is in the Westlight building in the West End neighborhood—a pretty upscale area. The complex offers a 24/7 concierge service, a pet washing station, and a heated rooftop pool.
House in Brentwood, CA
Purchase price (2012): They also have a home in the upscale Brentwood, CA area, which they purchased for $2.7 million.
Emhoff, who works in entertainment law, bought the 3,505-square-foot house for $2.7 million in 2012, two years before he married Harris.
The Journal says that after the wedding, Emhoff transferred the home into a joint trust, so now he and Harris own it together.
The house has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a swimming pool.
It’s currently valued at $5,376,700 and is the only property the couple owns.
