After the announcement of her hospital admission, many Royal fans may be wondering about the type of abdominal surgery Kate Middleton underwent and the expected recovery time.

This news comes just a week after her 42nd birthday. 

The Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated Kate’s low-key birthday, which is just the way she likes it. According to a source from The Daily Express, the children are about to start back at school, so it’s likely that Kate and her family will have a quiet celebration at home in Windsor.

Royal expert Jennie Bond stated that Prince William plans to spoil his wife after a tough time for her, possibly referring to the recent controversies surrounding the royal family following the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, in 2023. Bond speculated that William might arrange for breakfast in bed for his wife, saying, ‘He’s probably got a little bit of romance in him somewhere.’ The text then abruptly changes the subject, asking about the type of abdominal surgery Kate Middleton had.

The Princess of Wales underwent non-cancerous surgery for reasons that have not been disclosed. 

On January 16, 2024, Kate Middleton underwent planned abdominal surgery at The London Clinic. A statement from Kensington Palace confirmed that the surgery was successful. She is expected to remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before returning home to continue her recovery. According to current medical advice, the Princess of Wales is not expected to resume public duties until after Easter.

Many Royal fans expressed their concern and wished her a speedy recovery in the comments on Instagram.

On January 18, Prince William visited his wife as she recovered. Palace officials informed Today.com of the visit. On January 24, 2024, sources told Page Six that her procedure surprised family, friends, and people who work closely with the royals. However, insiders quoted by People have confirmed that Kate is doing well.

Kate is continuing her recovery at home after a 13-day hospital stay. 

Prince William attended the BAFTAs without Kate as she continued to recover. 

The annual awards ceremony recognizes film, television, and video game accomplishments. William and Kate regularly attend the ceremony. They debuted as the Prince and Princess of Wales at last year’s ceremony.

Three days later, for personal reasons, Prince William did not attend a memorial service for his godfather, Greece’s King Constantine III. Kensington Palace did not provide further details, but it is understood that the Prince’s absence was unrelated to Middleton.   According to The Mirror, ‘The Princess of Wales continues to be doing well.’

On March 4, 2024, Kate Middleton was seen for the first time since December, before her abdominal surgery. TMZ obtained photos of her being driven by her mother, Carole, near Windsor Castle.

There is no indication that Kate Middleton was in a coma.

There has been a rumor on social media that Kate Middleton’s surgery may have had severe, unforeseen implications. This led to the phrase ‘Kate Middleton coma’ trending. 

Journalist Concha Calleja claimed that the Princess of Wales underwent a hysterectomy, which is the removal of the uterus. During the postoperative period, she suffered severe complications, and as a result, they had to intubate her and put her in an induced coma. 

The Palace responded to the rumor through a source rather than an official statement. According to a palace insider who spoke to The Times, the rumor is untrue.
