The Kennedy family is the closest thing the United States has to old-school nobility or royalty. They’re a political dynasty like no other in American history, which makes them mysterious to many people.
People have been asking questions about JFK’s death for decades.
Some of it is about JFK’s assassination on November 22, 1963. However, other details have made the former president look slightly different. Here are some things the public learned about JFK after he died.
JFK’S YOUTHFUL, HEALTHY IMAGE WAS A FAKE
John F. Kennedy was the youngest person ever elected president at 35. He tried to look young during his time in office. Initially, his presidency was a success, and people still remember it that way. JFK wasn’t as healthy as his administration said.
The opposite was true. After JFK was assassinated, his family asked the pathologists not to look at his abdominal cavity. They did, and finally shared their findings in the early 1990s. The president’s adrenal glands were gone, which is a life-threatening condition. He was managing his chronic health conditions with regular treatments, often corticosteroid injections.
JFK LIED TO GET ELECTED
Understandably, JFK had health issues, but he didn’t tell the public about them. The Kennedys lied to the press.
JFK had Addison’s disease, which affects the adrenal glands. Interviewers knew something was wrong, so both Kennedy brothers had to speak about it.
Deceitful, and it was probably used to significant effect. Some historians think JFK might not have won the presidency if the public had known he was ill.
The Kennedy family is known as “Camelot.” Camelot. The name Camelot was coined to describe John F. Kennedy’s administration. It evokes the fantasy and idealism of the time. Kennedy is seen as a hero because his presidency is compared to King Arthur’s kingdom.
There are only a few photos of JFK and Marilyn Monroe together. There’s a lot of mystery and conspiracy around reports that Marilyn Monroe had affairs with both John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.
There is one known photo of Monroe with both Kennedy brothers. It was taken at the event where she sang “Happy Birthday.” Monroe is in a stunning dress between the Kennedys with their staff. The photos weren’t released to the public until 2008, nearly 50 years after JFK’s death.
JFK’S BRAIN WAS REMOVED
After Kennedy was assassinated, his body was taken for an autopsy. The pathologists removed his brain. They put it in a stainless steel container, closed it, and forgot to put it back in Kennedy’s body for his funeral. The jar was taken to the Secret Service and then to the National Archives. Then, the story gets hazy. By 1966, the entire locker was gone. It had taken Kennedy’s brain with it.
