Natalie From Mrs. Doubtfire Is An Absolute Beauty Today

The 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire is based on Anne Fine’s 1987 book Alias Madame Doubtfire. It is a classic. The movie made almost half a billion dollars and won an Academy Award for makeup. 

It’s been over twenty years since the comedy movie came out. You might wonder what the cast is doing now.

Robin Williams died in 2017. He first found success on TV as Mork in Mork and Mindy. The young actor was talented at delivering funny lines, timing his comedy, and showing range. Williams had a natural ease and star charisma. 

In the 1990s, Williams made family-friendly films like Hook (1991) and Aladdin (1992). In Mrs. Doubtfire, Williams plays a dad who does absurd things to be near his children. 

Robin Williams died by suicide on August 11, 2017, at 63. 

Sally Field has won acting awards. Before she was cast as the mother in Mrs. Doubtfire, she was already a Hollywood icon. 

Since “Mrs. Doubtfire,” Sally Field has been in many movies. She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Lincoln.” She has also been in big films like “The Amazing Spiderman” and more petite movies like “Hello, My Name is Doris.” She’s also been busy on TV, winning Emmys for “ER” and “Brothers and Sisters.” She recently starred in Netflix’s “Little Evil” and the TV show “Dispatches from Nowhere.”

Pierce Brosnan played James Bond after “Mrs. Doubtfire” was a hit. He played the cool, martini-drinking superspy in 1995’s “GoldenEye.” He played Bond in three more films: 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies, 1999’s The World is Not Enough, and 2002’s Die Another Day. 

He also acted in cult favorites like Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! and voiced himself on The Simpsons. He recently starred in the Hulu film False Positive and the Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest—the Story of Fire Saga.

Mara Wilson is a writer and actor. She was the youngest cast member on “Mrs. Doubtfire” at only five years old. She had no film or TV experience, but the actor was great in every scene. 

She got along with her fellow cast members. 

Wilson followed up Mrs. Doubtfire with the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street. Her natural charm helped her play a role originally played by Natalie Wood in 1947. In 1996, she played Matilda in the movie based on the Roald Dahl book. 

Lisa Jakub wrote a memoir about being a child actor. In 1993, she played Lydia Hillard in Mrs. Doubtfire.

After Mrs. Doubtfire, Jakub starred in Independence Day and extensively participated in the award-winning short film George Lucas in Love. Jakub has yet to act since 2000 but has been doing great work. In 2015, she wrote a memoir called You Look Like That Girl. A Child Actor Stops Pretending and Finally Grows Up. She also started a wellness community called Blue Maia.

Matthew Lawrence starred in Boy Meets World. Like his young co-stars, Hillard was relatable and vulnerable in Mrs. Doubtfire.

After “Mrs. Doubtfire,” Lawrence kept acting, playing a regular role in “Boy Meets World” and a younger version of his brother Joey Lawrence in “Blossom.” He recently played Jack Hunter in Girl Meets World, a Boy Meets World spinoff. 

Harvey Fierstein is known for his theater work. He played Frank, the makeup artist who transforms Robin Williams into Mrs. Doubtfire. But before the film, Fierstein was a mainstay in the theater world and an LGBTQ+ icon. 

After Mrs. Doubtfire, Fierstein won another Tony, Drama Desk, and Drama League award for Hairspray in 2003. He starred in Independence Day in 1996 and reunited with Robin Williams for Death to Smoochy. Fierstein has also done voices for shows like Family Guy and Netflix’s Big Mouth.

Polly Holliday has retired from acting. She played Gloria, a nosy neighbor, in Mrs. Doubtfire. Holliday worked in Hollywood before filming started.

After “Mrs. Doubtfire,” the actress starred in other notable projects, including the 1990 remake of “The Parent Trap” and the hit sitcom “Home Improvement.”

In 2000, she was inducted into the Alabama Hall of Fame. Holliday has retired from acting.
