Hopkins and his wife, Stella Arroyave, have been married for two decades.
The Silence of the Lambs actor first encounters the former antique dealer when he enters the shop where she works, and Arroyave makes a significant impression. The couple formally married in 2003.
Arroyave, 18 years younger than Hopkins, has been his third wife.
The couple dated for two years before getting married on March 1, 2003, in front of friends and family members at Hopkins’ estate in Malibu, California. The guests were provided with a repast of Greek cuisine accompanied by daffodils—the national flower of Wales, Hopkins’s birthplace and childhood home. Notable figures from the entertainment industry attended the event, including Jodie Foster, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, and Winona Ryder.
Following the nuptials, Arroyave departed from the antique business and entered the entertainment industry, joining her husband. In 2007, she produced and starred in the film Slipstream, which Hopkins wrote, directed, and starred in. Arroyave also appeared in a minor role alongside Hopkins in The Human Stain.
Hopkins is involved in the dramatic arts and has a passion for painting. He has exhibited in galleries worldwide and has successfully sold several of his pieces.
The couple have been close friends with the actress Salma Hayek for decades.
In November 2023, Arroyave and Hopkins attended an art exhibition in Los Angeles by Hayek’s brother. Actress Demi Moore also attended the event.
