The son of the famous Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, talks about his love life, his new underwear ads, and more in an exclusive interview. Robert Irwin, the son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, is excited thanks to his sexy underwear campaign for Bonds Australia.
Now the Internet wants to know: Does he have a girlfriend?
“No!” Irwin, 21, tells exclusively. “I’m single. He says it’s funny because he’s at the right place to be open to that, but he’s just waiting for the right moment.
Irwin has an idea of where he might meet his future partner: a restaurant at the Australia Zoo in Queensland, Australia, where he lives and works as an animal conservationist.
“Interestingly, my parents, my sister Bindi met her husband [Chandler Powell] here — everyone met here at our wildlife sanctuary,” he says, noting that his mum Terri met his dad Steve when she visited the zoo 34 years ago.
“In both cases, American tourists came to visit the zoo. So I’m waiting for it to happen again. I’m waiting for that American tourist to enter the zoo and for it all to happen!”
He says his parents and sister’s happiness makes him optimistic about his future. For now, Irwin is working hard to do what his dad did and help save animals, and he hopes that his new underwear commercial will make more people want to help, too!
“My dad started something important, and we are all trying to continue that work at the wildlife sanctuary,” he says. “I’ve found my way to do that, and sometimes that comes in the form of modeling Bonds.”
He adds, “It seems so unusual for what I would do. But I get to be with Aussie Wildlife, I get to approach a new audience, a new platform, and get my message out there to more people.”
He also wants to encourage people to treat themselves well.
He explains that he takes care of his body and mind. “It’s important to take care of yourself and treat your body with kindness,” he says of making his physical and mental health a priority. But you’ve also got to be happy, enjoy life, and chill out a bit.”
He says being relaxed was an essential part of the message of the Bonds advertising campaign.
“I was with some wild animals, and they were dangerous, but I was relaxed. I think that’s the message we all need to take,” he says. “There is so much going on, particularly with the environment and society in general. “We all need to remember to take a breath, be kind to one another and every living being around us, and move forward together,” he says.
