Little Tabitha Stevens, who charmed viewers with her signature nose move in the cult 60s series “Bewitched,” is now all grown up—and her life after filming has proven to be no less interesting than the magic onscreen.
The role of the little witch was played by Erin Murphy, first alongside her twin sister, Diana, and later on her own. Tabitha first appeared in the episode “And Then There Were Three” and soon became a regular character. After the show’s eight-season run ended, a spin-off dedicated to Tabitha was even released, but with a different actress. Erin Murphy has loved the set since childhood.
As Erin told The Tolucan Times, her career began literally in diapers—at 11 months old, she appeared in a Folgers coffee commercial. Just a year later, she and her sister, Diana, landed the role of Tabitha. However, directors quickly noticed that Erin was much more comfortable in front of the camera.
When the final episode of “Bewitched” aired in March 1972, Erin was only eight. She continued acting, primarily in commercials, and by her teens had appeared in over 80.
She later attended El Toro High School in California, where she was a cheerleader and even became prom queen.
After high school, Erin tried her hand at a variety of professions: casting director, stylist, acting teacher, and karaoke bar host. But her love of television prevailed, and Murphy found herself back on screen—this time in reality TV.
She worked as a correspondent for Fox Reality Channel, appeared on Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling on CMT, and participated in RuPaul’s Drag U, where she received “drag training” from Pandora Boxx.
Today, Erin actively supports charitable causes related to HIV/AIDS and autism. She has participated in numerous charity events, continuing the work of her colleague, Elizabeth Montgomery, also a well-known activist.
Murphy is also the mother of six sons. One of them lives with autism, and this inspired her to create an alpaca farm, which has become a form of therapy for the child.
Today, the actress runs two of her own companies and devotes herself to her family. However, she admits that she wouldn’t rule out a return to sitcoms.
It seems Tabitha’s magic lives on to this day – it’s just now in the hands of a grown, confident, and inspiring woman.
