Enjoy these vintage photos

These photos will take you back in time.

Man on Harley, 1955

Leather jacket, slicked-back hair. You were only cool if you wore these in the ’50s. Skilled motorcycle riders made great subjects for vintage photos. You might mistake this guy for Danny Zuko from Grease. John Travolta’s character didn’t ride a Harley.

Date Night – 50s

Dating has changed. Nowadays, it’s normal to dress casually for a first date. In the 1950s, it was normal to go to a diner dressed up. This couple looks adorable as the man holds up the milkshake for his date to try.

T-Birds – New York, 1950s

Young men wanted to look like Danny Zuko from Grease. Maybe it was Danny Zuko trying to look like everyone else. It was a fashion trend that took off in the 1950s. Vintage photos like these make you wonder what these lads were up to that day. Plus, can they tell us what happened next?

Fashion Models – 1960s

It’s a shame these glamorous people grew up when color photos were less common. We want to know what colors the dresses were. The second on the left was white, and the far right was black. The other two are in different colors, but they know how to pose.

Skateboarding to Work, 1982

This photo shows that you can still be true to yourself even if you work for a company. Skateboarding started in the 1940s, but the sport took decades to become popular. This photo was taken when skateboarding was already popular. He probably packed his sneakers in his briefcase.

Ice skater in a suit – 1937

In the 1930s, it was customary for men to wear suits and go ice skating. Nowadays, people ice skate in casual clothes. But back then, it wasn’t just fashion. It was also a different mentality. Go ice skating after work.

Beauty Pageant – 1920

This beauty pageant is relatively recent. Beauty pageants have existed since the Middle Ages and have become prestigious in the last couple of centuries. A year after this photo was taken, the first Miss America pageant was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Harlem – 1970s

The 1970s were one of the worst decades in Harlem’s history. The government spent millions on a plan to improve the neighborhood, but there needed to be more growth. Poverty, substance abuse, crime, and poor education caused problems in this area of Manhattan. The neighborhood has improved a lot.

Elvis Mania

Before the Beatles came to America, Elvis Presley was making women swoon. This photo shows a young fan losing control of his shoe. Parents thought Elvis’s music was bad for their kids. People were scared of Elvis fans, but they became more regular.

How to stay cool in the summer – New York, 1943

New York City has changed a lot, but one thing has stayed the same: hot summers. In 1943, New Yorkers found ways to stay cool in the summer heat. For example, friends poured ice water on each other.
